Our offer for around 5,000 schools: the vocatium fairs as extracurricular learning venues with a tried-and-tested concept:

We, the IfT Institut für Talententwicklung, are Germany's largest organizer of fairs for training+studies. Every year, we bring 450,000 young people into contact with 4,000 companies, universities, technical colleges, academies and other training providers at around 90 fairs. This is what we can do for you and your students:

  • We can help your students find suitable training companies and/or universities.
  • To do this, we bring the young people into scheduled and prepared discussions at our fairs for training + studies.
  • We support you in the preparation and follow-up of the fair visit and the vocational orientation lessons.
  • With our free web seminars, we train you and your students on career choice topics. We also organize conferences for the exchange of experience on career guidance projects.

The vocatium fairs are extracurricular learning venues. They are primarily aimed at students who are one year away from leaving school.

The presence fairs last one or two days and take place in the mornings. They are offered at more than 75 locationsin all federal states.

  • It is based on binding discussions between young people and exhibitors, which we arrange in intensive preparatory work.
  • We prepare the students for the fair in class.
  • We bring the young people together with suitable training companies, universities, technical colleges, academies or other training providers according to their wishes.
  • Prepared discussions about their choice of training and/or studies are particularly productive and valuable for the students.
  • Our employees, who are rooted in the respective region, maintain close contact with schools and other important network partners.

The vocatium fairs are increasingly being supplemented by special forums on professional fields. Students can find out more about key topics such as STEM, health, communication, social affairs and business. Lectures, hands-on stations and other activities invite them to explore.

Two special fairs are nordjob Bau in Neumünster and bauma in Munich. The construction fairs have special offers for career guidance.

The vocatium videochat fair combines the tried-and-tested trade fair concept with the advantages of digital, location-independent communication. As with our face-to-face fairs, we prepare your students (primarily from the upper school) in class and then arrange tailor-made and scheduled interviews with the exhibitors. The parentum fairs are aimed at parents with children of career choice age. Here they can ask their questions directly to companies, technical colleges, universities or other educational institutions and obtain information from presentations. Young parentum visitors are usually between 14 and 20 years old. The four-hour fairs take place on weekdays in the afternoon or on Saturday mornings and are therefore usually detached from the school environment. Of course, whole school classes are also welcome.

Activities that young people do outside of school allow them to try things out and find out what their talents are. This helps them in their career choices. That's why our fairs also feature providers for stays abroad during and after school. For example, students can find out about high school, au pair, work and travel, voluntary service abroad and language trips.

Students can find out why and where they can volunteer or complete a voluntary social year (FSJ) by talking to associations and organizations.

The “Opportunities in ...” handbooks bundle the educational offers of our exhibitors. One book is published per fair. Our employees personally hand the books to your students during classroom visits so that they can use them to prepare for the fair. Free of charge, of course. The total print run in 2024 is around 450,000 copies. All 75 issues can also be accessed digitally.

Our search portal contains the profiles of around 4,000 companies, technical colleges, universities, academies and other interesting training providers from Germany and abroad. Here your students can find out about offers for training, studies, internships, stays abroad and voluntary service.

If you are interested, we can provide you with guidelines including copy and homework templates. We also offer a wide range of teaching materials on the topic of career choice. We also offer free web seminars for teachers. vocatium partner schools receive access to the teacher portal, where we bundle all of our services. Talk to us or visit our digital consultation hour on Wednesdays from 12 to 2 pm. Registration is not required.

The vocatium magazine offers you and your students reading material, audios and videos on the topics of career choice and education. Professions in selected areas, e.g. media, STEM or health, are presented on a regular basis.

We have been sponsoring a school prize for career guidance for ten years. This is currently a video competition. Schools/students can submit films on the subject of career guidance/career choice. The prize money amounts to a total of 4,000 euros.

Current aspects of career guidance are discussed at our vocatium tagungen. The conferences take place in several cities across Germany. The topic in 2024: “Awakening STEM interest: getting pupils excited about mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. Participation is free of charge. In many places, the conferences are recognized as teacher training courses. - The theme for 2025 will be: Sustainable career guidance.

Our activities are supported by well-known personalities and institutions. Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, is the national patron of our fairs. In many places, we are also supported by representatives from state ministries and municipal administrations. Our partners also include employment agencies, chambers of industry and commerce, chambers of trade and employers' associations. We are also supported by the Kuratorium Schule-Wirtschaft-Politik.
